Bhakti Yoga
Bhakti Yoga is
the system by which love and devotion are emphasized. There are Bhakti Yoga
traditions that do not teach asana, pranayam, mudra or controlled meditation -
important practices of conventional yoga. As a substitute, love of God, love of
God in man, and give up to God's will is burdened within the Bhakti Yoga
approach. Some individuals are naturally inclined by temperament to be
devotional and to love God and God-as-the-world. Steadiness is recommended:
devotion balanced with motive, love balanced with understanding.
There are no set
methods to perform Bhakti yoga. Some people find that external aids can
contribute to a devotional angle: an altar used throughout prayer and
meditation; photos of saints to serve as inspiration; chanting or singing; use
of mantra or perhaps a easy devotional ceremony to aid in creating a mood as
preparation for meditation. Whatever a person's approach, if that strategy is
useful in the long term, it's perfectly to ensure that him, despite the fact
that it could not enchantment to another.
Singing the names
of God aloud can elevate consciousness, clear the mind and even cost the setting
with pure energy. For persons who discover it tough to pay attention throughout
meditation and for whom the strategy of calm discernment is just too subtle,
prayer and chanting might be of value.
It is in our each
day life that Bhakti Yoga is actually practiced. Are we loving, compassionate
and fair in our dealings with others? St. Francis is one of the Christian custom
who exemplified the Yoga of affection and devotion. Jesus acknowledged the
perfect of Bhakti Yoga when he taught, "As you could have cherished me, love one
another." When true love reigns, there can be no barriers; then concord and
success rule.
Simple, direct
prayer is the simplest- just speaking with God, then being still. The teaching
is that by devotion and receptivity we will open ourselves to the Reality of God
and entice God's consciousness into our own. Love and devotion also purifies
human nature and cleanses the thoughts and the emotional field. There could be
no hate, dislike, jealousy, envy, fear or prejudice in the loving heart. Really,
blessed are the pure in heart, for they will perceive the Reality of God.
