Directional Strength in Vedic
Within the Vedic astrology texts there's a system referred to as "Shad Bala"
(translated as "six fold strength"). This can be a system of evaluating planets
and their impression based on completely different Universal elements - many
Astronomical in nature. One of the crucial essential elements of Shad Bala (and
best to make use of), is named Dig Bala - Directional Strength.
The general idea of Dig Bala is that planets will do better supporting sure
angles in the chart than others. When a planet is closest to its best Dig Bala
position it not only supports the angle, but Its goal is supported as well.
Dig Bala is a Common Precept, as each astrology chart may have 4 angles that
relate to the different directions. As with all "Universal Astrology" ideas, the
rule itself is important solely in that we examine and perceive the rationale
why. When we just repeat a rule like "Mercury has Dig Bala in the first house,
so it is good", we are adding nothing to the reading except a general black and
white assertion. One of the huge problems with simply memorizing guidelines
without understanding the "why", is that we wind up unable to untangle the
contradictions of numerous placements.
For example: we'd have a planet that has good Dig Bala, but it's debilitated or
retrograde or getting very difficult facets or ruling difficult homes, etc. In
truth, you'll be able to count on these complexities. For that reason it is very
important underst and precisely what Dig Bala power shows about
the planet, the house/angle in a very specific and detailed way.
In this class we will look at why every planet has Dig Bala within the place it
does and likewise evaluate/contrast that Directional position with the other
Directional positions, especially its reverse placement -- the place it is Dig
Bala is lowest.
Every astrology chart we are going to erect will have four directions as proven
by houses 1, four, 7 and 10. Let's study these positions in general.
The first home / ascendant is the East. It reveals the power coming into
delivery at that time based mostly on the precise position of the turning Earth
relative to the sky in the local place the place the chart is being drafted. The
primary house exhibits the physique/persona/style and total experience in an
people chart or those same qualities (minus the bodily physique) in an
electional chart.
The fourth home / nadir is the North. It shows what's the deepest and most
hidden. If your draw a chart for the place you are sitting right now, the nadir
could be instantly beneath you. The fourth house shows the feelings and internal
emotional lifetime of a person or an event.
The seventh house / descendent is the West. It shows that which is furthest away
from the person or event (that's born in the first home). It's generally often
known as the "relationship house". The seventh home shows that which is totally
opposite the person or event. There's a sturdy magnetic pull towards our
opposite. The seventh house exhibits this and acts as a mirror to the first
house.
The tenth house / midheaven is the South. It reveals what's directly overhead
and shows what has the best capacity to influence us or the impression we will
have. The 10th home shows the quality of motion and influence that a person or
event can have on the world and/or that the world can have on the individual or
the event. |
