Darshan
Sanskrit“auspicious viewing”, also spelled darshana. In Hindu worship, the beholding of a deity (particularly in picture kind),
revered individual, or sacred object. The expertise is usually conceived to be
reciprocal and results in the human viewer's receiving a blessing. The Rathayatras (chariot festivals), wherein photographs of gods are taken in
procession by means of the streets, enable even those that in former days
weren't allowed to enter the temple to have darshan of the deity. Darshan is
also imparted by gurus (private spiritual academics) to their followers, by
rulers to their topics, and by objects of veneration such as pilgrimage shrines
to their visitors.
