Prajapati

One of the creator figures of the Vedic period of ancient India; in the put up-Vedic age he came to be identified with a serious Hindu god, Brahma, who gradually surpassed him in importance.

The frequent speculations on the creation of the world in the early Vedic literature allude to numerous primal figures, equivalent to Hiranyagarbha (“Golden Egg”) and Visvakarma (“All-Accomplishing”), and the title of Prajapati was utilized to a couple of such figure. Later it was used to indicate one deity, the lord of all creatures. In response to one of the stories of creation, Prajapati produced the universe and all its beings after first getting ready himself by undergoing tapas (ascetic practices); different stories allude to his personal creation from the primal waters. His feminine emanation, who aided him within the creation of different beings, was Vāc, the personification of the sacred phrase, but sometimes his feminine accomplice is given as Usas, the daybreak, who can also be thought to be his daughter.
