Thorium dioxide mineral (ThO2) that may be very heavy, onerous, and coloured
darkish grey to brownish black or bluish black. Initially found as waterworn
grains and crystals in the gem gravels of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), thorianite
additionally happens sparsely within the black river and seaside sands of
Alaska, Madagascar, and Siberia. The refractory nature and shortage of
thorianite have restricted its commercial use as a source of thorium. It
