Lovers
A heavenly being hovers within the sky, beneath the Solar, and he is
the angel Raphael. He's wanting down upon two nude figures, a man and a
woman. She symbolizes the subconscious thoughts, the High Priestess and
the Empress, whereas the person by her facet is the Magician and the
Emperor. Behind the woman is the tree of knowledge, and a serpent twines
by way of its branches and presents the tempting fruit. These two lovers
stand here in concord, hiding nothing from each other, they usually know
that to have a successful life together they have to find balance
between the conscious thoughts and their unconscious desires.
In several decks, this card is portrayed as one man standing between
two women, and clearly being forced to make a choice between them. When
the Lovers appear, it traditionally signifies someone who should decide
and overcome temptation. The Lovers present us that we've got
selections, and that we're beings who struggle between sacred and
profane love. This card represents the stability between the internal
and outer points of our lives.
