What is a Solar Sign?
The Sun would not rise in exactly the same place
every day. From our viewpoint here on Earth, it drifts over the
course of a year. It is path through the sky is named the Ecliptic.
In historic Babylon, the Ecliptic was separated
into twelve equal pieces. Every bit was named after a serious
constellation, and the mythology of the Babylonians, and later the
Greeks, defined the traits of those born below that constellation.
That is the Zodiac, and is the middle of astrology.
Rigorously tracing the place of the solar will
present that it moves via each of the twelve Zodiac signs over the
course of the year. That is where the concept of astrological signs,
or "Sun Indicators," has it's start. An individual's Sun Signal is
tied to the constellation the Solar was touring via for the time
being of his birth.
The Solar is historically associated with will
and individuality, so the Sun Sign covers the general tendencies and
route an individual has of their life. It covers such things as
focus, willpower, integrity, and ego. It describes general
tendencies in a person, like "Capricorns are gloomy" or Virgo may be
very orderly," as well as common predictions, like "Sagittarius
should learn tact" and "Pisces ought to keep away from alcohol and
drug abuse". That is also the component that shows how other
individuals will treat this individual, nearly like a prediction of
their "first impression."
That is only the place to begin of Western
Astrology, of course. The Sun Signal is simply a really basic
description, and an astrological reading--a horoscope, or natal
chart--takes the planets and Moon into account as well. For example,
historically, Capricorns are very gloomy and depressed. This is a
common trait ascribed to Capricorn, based mostly on the place of the
Sun. However, the positions of the opposite planets can counter--or
typically enhance--this tendency. Complete horoscopes should account
for all of those elements, using the position of the sun as a
starting point.
