The
Solar temple (mandir) of Gujarat is located at Modhera. It is akin
to the Solar Temple (mandir) at Konark and is dedicated to the Sun
God, Lord Surya. Although the temple (mandir) has misplaced its
glory of the yore, it's nonetheless an architectural and art master
piece. The temple (mandir) serves as the venue for the Dance Pageant
held in January each year. It was in-built 1026 AD by the Solanki
King Bhimdev I of Patan. The Solankis had been Suryavanshis, the
descendents of Solar God and due to this fact constructed this
