Beaches
With a
coastline extending almost 1000 km and nine districts along the shore, Andhra
Pradesh afford1- the best beaches in the country. Unlike in some parts, the
beaches of Andhra Pradesh truly have golden sands against a backdrop of bright
blue waters of the
Bay of Bengal. Words cannot describe the beauty
of the Andhra beaches and one has to be able to see and feel the romanticism
involved.
Bheemunipatnam :
Known as Bhimli for short, Bheemunipatnam, the second oldest municipality in the
country, lies at the mouth of theGosthani river. The town is just 25 km north of
Visakhapatnam and one of the roads between
the two places runs all along the shoreline, providing breathtaking views at
many spots. Bhimli beach is considered one of the safest for swimmers and
surfers as the water is shallow.
Kakinada-Uppada Road Beach :
The beach on Uppada Road
is located about 5 km from Kakinada town and is well connected by bus. The beach
and shore waters are clean. The slope is gradual and the shore is wide. There is
a beach park.
Kalingapatnam :
Located in Srikakulam district, it is being developed as a beach resort by
Andhra Pradesh Tourism.
Kottapatnam :
Kottapatnam is located about 18 km from Ongole town and is one of the beaches
close from Ongole town. The beach is clean and serves as a popular recreational
spot for the nearby villagers.
Krishnapatnam :
In Nellore district on the southern tip of Andhra Pradesh, it has a clean beach.
Manginapudi (Machilipatnam)
:
Mac hilipatnam is the headquarters town of Krishna district. Known for its
Kalamkari art, it was a major port once and was known as "Bandar". In fact, the
British preferred Machilipatnam as their gateway to India.
Motupalle :
Motapalle village is about 1 2 km from Chinaganjam and 45 km from Ongole. The
land abutting the beach is lined with casuarina plantations providing an excel
lent backdrop to the clean beaches here.
Mypadu :
Located 25 km from
Nellore,
it has lovely vegetation around.
Perupalem :
Perupalem is located very close to Narsapur town in West Godavari district. The
drive to Perupalem on the State highway is very scenic with vast, green paddy
fields separated with lines of c oc onut trees.

Suryalanka Beach:
Suryalanka Beach, located 9 km from
Bapatla, attracts a large number of visitors on weekends and holidays and on
some auspicious days tor a dip in the sea. The beach is relatively flat with a
gradual slope and the shore is wide.
Visakhapatnam :
A number of beaches are located in this Port city, like Ramakrishna Mission
Beach, Lawson's Bay and Rishikonda.
