Terrifying Amherst Poltergeist

No sooner had the ladies nervously righted the box when it jumped into the air again, eliciting the screams from the young women.

Up thus far, the occasions could have been attributed to the lively imaginations of the 2 ladies, especially given Esther's current, harrowing expertise by the hands of Bob MacNeal. But the third night time would provide proof to all in the Teed house that one thing far out of the strange was taking place with Esther Cox. That evening, Esther excused herself to bed early, complaining that she felt feverish. At about 10 p.m., soon after Jasmin joined her in bed, Esther jumped up from the bed to the middle of the room, tearing at her nightclothes and screaming, "My God! What is going on to me? I am dying!"

Jasmin lit a lamp and looked at her sister, horrified to see that her skin was shiny red and appeared to be swelling unnaturally. Olive rushed into the room and assisted Jasmin in getting their sister again in mattress as she now gave the impression to be choking and struggling to breathe. The opposite adults watched in disbelief as Esther's complete physique, which was remarkably hot to the contact, swelled and reddened. Esther's eyes bulged and he or she cried in ache, fearing she was literally going to burst by means of her stretched skin. Then from beneath Esther's bed came a deafening bang - like a clap of thunder - that shook the room. Three extra loud studies exploded from beneath the mattress, after which Esther's swelling subsided and he or she fell right into a deep, deep sleep.

After two hours, the home fell quiet.
