Postpartum depression

Loosely, any acute depression occurring within three months following childbirth. If psychotic symptoms are present, such as delusions, hallucinations, marked illogical thought, loosening of associations, the term postpartum depression may be used. Note, the three-month criterion is not universally adhered to and a variety of time periods may be cited as diagnostically relevant.
