Generally, any form of psychotherapy that treats
behavioral and mental disorders with drugs and chemicals, such as tranquilizers
or anti-depressants. Some therapists view most, if not all, abnormal reactions
as being, in the final analysis, due to biochemical imbalances and will argue
that they should be treated likewise. Others take a less definitive position and
will use these drugs as a way of producing a temporary quiescent state during
which more traditional therapy techniques may be employed; broadly to cover any
technique
based on chemicals, for example in the treatment of cancer.
