A type of schizophrenia characterized primarily by
delusions of persecution or grandiosity or hallucinations with persecutory or
grandiose content. Delusional jealousy is often part of the disorder, and any of
a number of associated symptoms many be found, including unfocused anxiety,
anger, argumentativeness, doubts about gender identity, stilted formal quality,
aloofness. Unlike many other forms of schizophrenia, the patient is usually of
relatively normal appearance and clean in habits and if the delusions are not
acted on impairment in functioning may be minimal.
