The largest
gathering in history -- over 60 million people at Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad,
India. We celebrated a powerful planetary alignment -- January, 2001. This nexus
of cosmic energy converges every 144 years, bringing dramatic changes in the
destiny of humanity.
We met the
radiant Himalayan saints, sages, seers, sadhus, and yogis who make their rare
appearance at Kumbh Mela in Prayag, the confluence of the Ganges, Jamuna, and
mythical Saraswati Rivers. Kumbh Mela takes place during an auspicious planetary
position that is believed to medicate the Ganges waters and turn the river into
nectar. Millions arrive to purify their inner self through holy bathing rituals.
